I purchased this external HDD for important data backup 3 months ago. Backup is always important, and I saved a lot of time, which would have lost by disk failure or file delete by accident. (Photo from toshiba.com)
I prefer TOSHIBA brand for TOSHIBA is the brand which made and patented the laptop computer first in the world. Since that time, TOSHIBA has developed its technology to downsize the laptop computer and its components. I myself changed my work platform from Desktop to Laptop since around 2006, because I can save space and I can work in any place particularly in the work fields.
This Toshiba 1TB Canvio® Basics USB 3.0 Portable Hard Drive has unique exterior design. HDD is completed wrapped in a firm plastic enclosure which ensures high level of protection from the damage by disassembly, dust and water.
Another special thing I noticed with this product is the LED, which displays BLUE color for USB 2.0 connection, and WHITE color for USB 3.0 connection. (photo by James Kim)
This product is installed and recognized as it is without driver installation by plug-and-play in Windows 7. It is great point when you install driver in newly formatted Laptop HDD, because just after the Windows installation, only available media access is either DVD drive or USB. Without USB access, you cannot install needed drivers for Video, Sound and LAN, which are usually stored in USB after the drivers are downloaded from internet, because internet is not set up and enabled just after the Windows installation.
Another appealing point for this product is THREE YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY. It shows TOSHIBA's confidence and efforts to guarantee the product quality.
TOSHIBA is one of the major manufacturers which produce FLASH memory to the world. I have 4G SDCARD for NIKON camera, which has kept working for a long time without failure.
I expect more advanced products with reasonable price would be available from TOSHIBA, as well as TOSHIBA makes the advanced technology available at the proper expenses, enabling the consumers to enjoy better benefits from new technology from recent advances from TOSHIBA.
